The 69.15-metre Damen support vessel flagship has passed her sea trials with an 11.3 metre Wajer tender, a 10.5 metre Damen RIB and a U-Boat Worx submersible loaded onto the aft deck.
GAME CHANGER has launched in February 2017, it’s the fourth Yacht Support vessel in the range following the delivery of INTREPID, ‘6711’ and GARÇON. It’s designed in-house, features a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.
It designed to carry large helicopters, large water toys and more crew spaces for her mothership. The Key features include 250 square metres of open large deck crane for storing tenders and water toys and 110 square metres of storage space below decks for a dive centre.
GAME CHANGER has a fully certified superyacht helipad, which means that owners can travel with a larger helicopter and land in a wider range of weather conditions.
In addition, it has offices, facilities and accommodation for 22 crew and staff. It can carry a huge amount of extra provisions, fuel (marine, aviation and petrol), luggage and spare parts.
Power comes from four 3,000hp MTU 16V4000 M63L diesel engines for a top speed of 20 knots and a maximum cruising range of 4,500 nautical miles at 16 knots.
DAMEN Product Director Mark Vermeulen comments on their Smart Stretch plan:
“Our clients want to go to exciting new destinations with less established superyacht infrastructure and they want to have more fun with larger tenders, larger helicopters and submersibles.”
“They also want to take more staff, guides, pilots and security personnel with them. GAME CHANGER is the massive leap forward in capability that they need, but at a much lower cost than a larger yacht. Plus, they get all the benefits of flexible operations and privacy. That’s why we call it the Smart Stretch.”
